Get Solar Panels
Do the bright thing - install solar power in your home to reduce your electricity costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
More than 100,500 Queensland homes and small businesses have already done the bright thing by installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on their roofs.
The electricity generated through the PV panels is used to power electric appliances in homes - and if the appropriate wiring is in place, any electricity not used can be fed into the electricity grid.
Solar Bonus Scheme
The Queensland Government's Solar Bonus Scheme pays households and other small customers for the surplus electricity generated from solar PV panels that is exported to the Queensland electricity grid.
What you'll need to do first
Customers wishing to install a solar PV system will need to contact a solar power PV system installer. Visit the Clean Energy Council website for a list of Queensland-based solar PV system installers. Your chosen installer will let you know what type of solar PV system is appropriate for your home or business.
Electrical work must be conducted by a Queensland licensed electrical contractor. You can check the license details of electrical contractors on the Electrical Safety Office website (click on 'Electrical License holder search').
For more information about installing a solar PV system, visit the Office of Clean Energy website.
Further information about what to consider when installing a solar PV system is also available on the Choice website.
