On 28 February 2012, the Federal Government announced the closure of the Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme - Solar Hot Water (REBS).

Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
Small-scale Technology Certificates, or STCs, are a form of tradeable commodity associated with the installation of eligible renewable energy systems including solar panels, solar water heaters and heat pumps. STCs have replaced Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
Most suppliers offer a point-of-sale discount for STCs when you purchase a solar water heater or a solar power (photovoltaic) system.
