How to choose a solar hot water supplier or installer
*Safety warning notice - Sunergy Solar Solutions Pty Ltd*
Before choosing an installer:
- get to know the market and find out about the range of solar hot water systems and heat pumps, retailers, suppliers and installers
- once you've done your research, determine the best solar hot water system for your needs. You may like to also download a copy of the Helpful information about choosing a solar water heater (PDF - 231KB).
- get several quotes.
Make sure that any proposed system and installation meet the eligibility criteria for the range of government rebates and financial incentives available.
Appropriately licensed plumbers and electricians need to complete every installation. Check the licences of all tradespeople to make sure the licence is current.
Only plumbers with a solar and heat pump endorsement on their licence can legally install solar water heaters in Queensland. A licensed electrical contractor is also required. If the system is gas boosted, a licensed gas fitter will also be required. Anyone arranging the installation for you must hold an appropriate Building Services Authority (BSA) license and relevant occupational licences.
